Brush Mowing
We cut overgrown lots and pasture down with a hydraulic three-blade brush mower on our skid steer. It cuts dense brush and small trees up to about 5 inches.

Forestry mulching clears overgrown land and leaves the cut material on the ground as mulch. The disc mulcher on our skid steer cuts brush and smaller trees, then shreds them in place. Palmetto flats and grown-in lots around Melbourne open up, and the trees you want to keep stay standing.
We use forestry mulching when the ground should stay covered and the roots can stay put. It fits trails, fence lines, selective clearing and the underbrush on a wooded homesite. When every root has to come out for a house or a barn, that is our land clearing work. Call or text (904) 719-0443, and we will look at the job and put a free quote in writing.

The disc mulcher mounts on the front of our skid steer. It cuts standing brush and smaller trees, then shreds the wood into chips right where it stood. The chips fall to the ground as a loose layer of mulch.
Everything the mulcher cuts stays on the lot. The mulch covers the sandy ground and breaks down over time. The mulcher cuts near the ground, so the roots and the topsoil stay put.
That makes forestry mulching a good fit for land you want to keep wooded. The brush under the trees is gone, and the shade stays.
Many wooded lots around Melbourne are pine flatwoods, with thick saw palmetto under slash pine. Saw palmetto spreads by stems that run along and under the ground. Those stems build a tangled mat that is hard to cross on foot. The disc mulcher grinds that mat down.
Forestry mulching fits a trail through acreage or a fence line that has grown in. It also opens up a lot edge where Brazilian pepper has crowded in. We take the disc mulcher to land from Titusville to Port St. Lucie and west to St. Cloud.
Flatwoods sand drains poorly. On the common flatwoods soils, federal soil surveys put the water table within 18 inches of the surface. That lasts 1 to 4 months in most years. Forestry mulching works on top of that sand and leaves it covered.
The disc mulcher is built for brush and smaller-diameter trees. It cuts them off near the ground, and the stumps and roots stay in the soil. Bigger trees, and stumps that have to go, are pulled out roots and all. That is part of lot and acreage clearing, done with the tree puller or an excavator.
A mulch layer is not a building pad. Where a house or a barn will sit, the roots come out and the ground gets leveled first. We plan which parts get mulched and which get cleared before any machine runs.
Brazilian pepper needs more than mulching. University of Florida plant scientists note that it resprouts hard from what is left in the ground. Pulling the whole root system is what removes it, and that is our Brazilian pepper removal work.

We settle the plan for your lot, and we walk you through which permits apply to it. Florida law calls for a Sunshine 811 notice at least 2 full business days before digging starts.
The disc mulcher and the brush mower take the growth down. The tree puller lifts trees and stumps out of the ground, roots and all. An excavator comes in for ponds and lot leveling.
We haul the debris off or leave the mulch on the ground, whichever you chose. You get back a smooth lot, ready for the build or the pasture.
