Lot clearing turns a wooded or overgrown lot into ground you can use. BW Clearing takes the job from the first look to the finished ground, around Melbourne and across Brevard County. We offer land clearing services for new homes, barns, shops and pasture, on residential and commercial land. The work runs from a platted quarter-acre lot up to open acreage.
Trees and stumps come out roots and all, along with the palmetto and brush. Every job starts with land clearing planning, so you know what stays and what goes before the machines run. Call or text (904) 719-0443 for a free quote.

It starts with a look at the land and a talk about your plans for it. We settle which trees stay and where the pad, the driveway or the pasture will sit. That plan comes before any machine runs.
The disc mulcher or the brush mower takes the palmetto and brush down first. Then the tree puller lifts trees and stumps out, root ball and all. The excavator handles the biggest ones. Stump pulling counts as excavation under Florida's one-call law, so a Sunshine 811 notice comes first.
Last comes the ground itself. We level the lot and smooth over the holes the root balls leave. The debris is hauled off or mulched in place, as the plan calls for. A low lot can take fill and rough grading before the builder starts.
Full clearing takes the whole lot down to bare ground. It fits a house pad, a shop or barn site, and land you plan to grade. Selective clearing keeps the trees you want, such as a big live oak or a row of pines.
Under a new house, everything goes. The state building code wants all stumps and dead roots out of the foundation area and 1 foot past it. Away from the pad, shade trees and a wooded edge can stay.
The plan keeps machines back from the roots of trees that stay. Outside city limits, Brevard County's code counts root injury and soil compaction from machines as land clearing. Under that code, a mainland hardwood is a protected tree once its trunk reaches 10 inches across at chest height. For a pine, the line is 14 inches.
Brevard acreage is often pine flatwoods, with slash pine standing over saw palmetto and cabbage palm. Myakka sand, the soil mapped on the most land in Brevard, is rated poorly drained in the federal soil survey. In most years, its water table sits within 18 inches of the surface for one to four months. On ground like that, the drier months usually give heavy machines firmer footing.
Haul-off takes everything off the property: trunks, stumps, root balls and palmetto. It leaves bare, smooth ground, the right finish for a house pad, a shop or a driveway. Debris removal can be bundled into the clearing job.
Mulching in place leaves the cut growth on the ground as a layer of mulch. Forestry mulching fits trails and fence lines in woods you plan to keep. Expect saw palmetto to sprout again from its roots, and keep mulch off a future house pad. One acreage job can use both, with haul-off on the pad and mulch on the rest.
