Questions About Land Clearing Work Around Melbourne
These are the questions homeowners and landowners around Melbourne ask
us most. They cover land clearing, mulching, dirt work and how the free
quote works. If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.
Every lot is priced on its own, after we see it. Acreage and how thick the growth is move the price most. Stumps, wet ground, tight access and debris haul-off add to it. You get the free quote in writing before any work starts.
Is BW Clearing licensed and insured?
Yes. BW Clearing is licensed and insured. Ask any land clearing contractor that question before heavy machines go to work on your land.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Melbourne, and Brevard County is the core of our area. We also work the Treasure Coast, south through Sebastian and Vero Beach to Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie. Inland, St. Cloud and the east side of Orange County are in range. See the full list of towns we cover.
What happens to the trees and brush you clear?
That depends on the plan for the land. With forestry mulching, brush and small trees are ground up where they stand, and the mulch stays on the lot. Where the lot has to be bare for a pad or a driveway, we haul the debris off.
Do you grind stumps?
No, we pull them out. Stump grinding is a different service, and we do not offer it. Our land clearing work lifts stumps out with the tree puller or an excavator. The root system comes out, so nothing grows back from the stump.
Do I need a permit to clear my land?
Often, yes. Unincorporated Brevard County requires a land clearing permit unless an exemption applies. Inside Melbourne, the city's engineering department issues the land alteration permit for tree removal. Clearing within 25 feet of a gopher tortoise burrow needs an FWC permit first. We walk you through which permits apply to your lot.
When is the best time of year to clear land here?
The drier months, roughly November through April, usually give the firmest ground. By NOAA's climate normals, June through September bring more than half of Melbourne's yearly rain. On poorly drained lots, standing water and soft ground can slow heavy machines then. We plan the work around the ground on your lot.
Can you get a raw lot ready to build a house?
Yes. Lot clearing comes first, with the stumps pulled out by the roots. Then we level the ground and spread fill where it is needed. We can build the dirt or gravel driveway too. A concrete contractor pours the slab, and a utility contractor does the underground work.
Do you build pole barns?
Yes. We build pole barns on a pad we clear and level first. Shops, garages, equipment storage, barns and barndominium shells are all on the list, with insulated options. Any concrete slab is poured by a concrete contractor.
