Clearing a wooded lot in Titusville means planning around two things: wet ground and the city's rules. The city runs from the Indian River Lagoon west to the St. Johns River. Soil maps there show dry sand ridges and low flatwoods that hold water through summer and fall. Inside city limits, the code calls for a permit or approval before clearing or grading starts.
BW Clearing is a land clearing company based in Melbourne, and Titusville is part of our service area. We clear house lots and acreage here with a skid steer and its attachments. The tree puller lifts trees out of the ground, roots and all. Call or text (904) 719-0443 for a free quote in writing.

USDA soil maps for the Titusville area show a mix of ground. Paola and Candler fine sands sit on the ridges and knolls, and both are excessively drained. Myakka sand covers the flatwoods and is poorly drained. Muck fills the low depressions, and the maps list it as frequently ponded.
On the Myakka flatwoods, the soil survey puts water about a foot below the surface from June through November. The rest of the year it sits near 2 feet down. NOAA's Titusville weather station averages about 55 inches of rain a year, and more than half falls June through September.
The same survey rates the muck as poorly suited to heavy equipment, with a severe rutting hazard. Saw palmetto grows on both the ridges and the flatwoods. When we clear, the palmettos and their roots come out, and the lot is left ready for the next step. We look at the lot with you and plan the work around the wet spots.
Inside city limits, tree questions go to the Development Services Division of the Community Development Department. That office handles tree reviews and permits. Tree removal is filed as a site permit, with a drawing of where the trees stand.
Before a clearing and grubbing permit or a building permit, the code asks for a tree survey. It lists each tree 14 inches across or more, measured 4.5 feet up the trunk. Native and Florida-friendly trees that size are protected, and palms are left out of that rule.
The code calls shredding and chipping the desired method for removing vegetation from a site. Our disc mulcher shreds brush and small trees in place, which is forestry mulching. In June 2026 the City Council adopted Titusville's first Urban Forest Management Plan. Rules can change, so we point you to Development Services before the machines arrive.
Titusville sits across the Indian River from Kennedy Space Center, and it grew fast with the space program. The city's own history says the 1960s boom brought new subdivisions and golf courses. The old towns of Indian River City and Whispering Hills became part of Titusville in that era.
Census Bureau survey data puts about 24 percent of the city's homes in the 1960s. The median home was built in 1982. When a tree on an older lot is dead or crowds the house, our lot clearing service takes it out. The root system comes out with it, so nothing grows back from the stump.
Titusville has grown outward as well. The 2020 Census counted 48,789 people, up from 43,761 in 2010. The city wrote small area plans for South Street and Riveredge Drive as properties there are annexed. A raw lot headed for a house starts with site preparation: a plan for what stays and what goes.
Mims and Scottsmoor to the north are unincorporated, and so is Port St. John to the south. There, Brevard County's code calls for a permit before any land clearing, unless an exemption applies. The county's Natural Resources Management office reviews those permits. All three places are part of our service area.
State rules apply on both sides of the city line. Work within 25 feet of a gopher tortoise burrow needs a permit from the FWC, the state wildlife agency. Florida law also calls for a Sunshine 811 notice at least 2 full business days before digging. Pulling stumps and digging ponds count, so that notice comes first.
